Sorry, Jimmy Dugan, but there is crying in baseball. And when it happens, it’s just as sad and depressing as you might expect.

The San Francisco Giants’ Game 4 loss to the Chicago Cubs in the National League Division Series must have been tough for a lot of players. But no one took things harder than the club’s former closer Santiago Casilla. Following the game, Casilla cried at his locker, according to Carl Steward of the Mercury News.

Both catcher Buster Posey and general manager Bobby Evans attempted to console Casilla in the clubhouse, but it didn’t have an impact on the reliever.

The 36-year-old had legitimate reasons to be upset. While the Giants’ bullpen completely melted down in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game, Casilla was never called upon to enter the contest. Manager Bruce Bochy turned to five different relievers during the inning. None of them could hold a three-run lead. The Giants’ bullpen coughed up four runs in the inning, eventually losing the game 6-5.
