Texas football signee Reese Leitao was arrested Tuesday on a drug charge at his high school.
Leitao, a tight end from Jenks High School in Jenks, Oklahoma, was booked into Tulsa County Jail on a charge of possession and delivery of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school.
“We’re aware of the situation involving our signee, Reese Leitao,” Texas coach Tom Herman said in a statement. “We’re collecting information, will talk to Reese and his family, let the legal system run its course and then address it further at the appropriate time.”
According to a campus police report obtained by FOX23 in Tulsa, Leitao had 20 pills of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and more than $1,300 in his possession and admitted to a school administrator he was selling the Xanax.
Leitao, the son of DePaul men’s basketball coach Dave Leitao, signed with Texas in February.
